Rush hour - the good kind.

elite crowd

I was asked to shoot for the osim Singapore International Triathlon 06 in support of the media centre.

I remember I had signed up for the event before I was confirmed as the photographer. I didn’t want to miss either my event or the shoot, so I had to wake up at 5 a.m. that day, make it in time for the elite start at 8 a.m. and then go for my age-group event at 10 a.m. It was worth it.

The Croc

I was privileged to meet Brad Bevan for a photoshoot last year. The man is a legend in triathlon circles but what struck me was his humble, easy going nature. Brad Bevan earned his nickname because he used to train in croc-infested waters near his home in Mirriwini, Australia.

In a heart-breaking incident, he was hit by a car the day before the 2000 Sydney World Cup, which was an Australian Olympic team qualifier. He would have made the team without question.

Lilin - celebrity triathlete

Singapore celebrity actress Lilin took up a mini-triathlon challenge in the Singapore International Triathlon last year in July 2006. What was remarkable was that she had given birth to her second child only earlier in the year. Her husband, Allan Wu, an actor, was also on hand with their children to cheer his wife on.

fastest female triathlete in Singapore

vickycambell7.jpg

Vicky Cambell is pure speed, grace and beauty in the sport of triathlon in Singapore. She is the fastest female triathlete in town. When I was working at Nike, I suggested we get her involved in the Nike Speed Campaign and that’s how she ended up as a Nike athlete.

She’s usually first or second out of the swim, furious on the bike and a whirlwind on the run. I forget the number of times I’ve been lapped by her on a circuit course.

You go, girl.
