Lao village kids in school.

Lao village kids in school.

A Lao village classroom.

A friend, a ball. All I need.
2 Lao kids in a rural village on the outskirts of Vientiane, Laos.

A Lao village student on his bicycle stopped to check me out.
When in motion, he never used the seat. He couldn’t reach it.

Remember a time when all you had to do was hold hands and walk in twos, and everyone would be happy?

Children are the living messages we send to a time we will not see. ~John W. Whitehead, The Stealing of America, 1983

To play is one of the earliest joys of our humanity.
Play is a period of unencumbered joy, discovering a body designed for movement. Even though we are now older, with adult responsibilities, when we step onto that running trail or playing field in the evening sunset, we remember again that joy, that first rush of blood, the increasing heartbeat and the taste of sweat on our lips.
Remember to play.
Have a good friend? Give her a hug today.
