So you lost? It’s ok. It starts again from zero tomorrow.

It’s ok, Ronald

Ronald Susilo got knocked out of the Korean Open after a credible showing at the Malaysia Open. I met him at the Aviva Open Singapore last year at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and he is a humble, quiet and determined man. I am sure he will pick himself up and try again. It isn’t easy being a national athlete with the weight of expectation on your shoulders.

Keep trying, Ronald.

I was the official photographer for the Aviva Open Singapore 06 held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium in June 06. World-class players were in town for a week and I was treated to a superb display of technical mastery, quick thinking and athletic power.

I was asked to shoot for the osim Singapore International Triathlon 06 in support of the media centre.

I remember I had signed up for the event before I was confirmed as the photographer. I didn’t want to miss either my event or the shoot, so I had to wake up at 5 a.m. that day, make it in time for the elite start at 8 a.m. and then go for my age-group event at 10 a.m. It was worth it.
