This used to be a post office. No kidding.
It’s now a 5-star hotel in the heart of town. She’s a beauty at night.
I will always remember those floodlights. I will always remember the first time I walked into the stadium as a child. The scene bathed in a white glow. The grass, vibrant green. The smell of cigarette smoke mixed with that of curry puffs. The stadium announcer’s voice mixed in with the low rumbling sound of the swearing, sweating throng of 50,000.
And high above the crowd they stood, lonely and ignored. Soon the lights will go out forever.
I’m glad they preserved this building because of her rich history. Our collective memories do not just exist in words or images. We need to touch our memories.
