fastest female triathlete in Singapore

Vicky Cambell is pure speed, grace and beauty in the sport of triathlon in Singapore. She is the fastest female triathlete in town. When I was working at Nike, I suggested we get her involved in the Nike Speed Campaign and that’s how she ended up as a Nike athlete.

She’s usually first or second out of the swim, furious on the bike and a whirlwind on the run. I forget the number of times I’ve been lapped by her on a circuit course.

You go, girl.

Believeably Best Basketball

Friday, January 19th, 2007

Oh alright, I was looking for the alliteration BUT it was the best basketball I have ever seen. What do you expect, when you get NBA players like Manu Ginobili who plays for the San Antonio Spurs?

The photography work at the Philips Singapore Cup was exhilarating, exhausting. Being courtside, you see the whites of the eyes, the sweat on the brow and feel the power of a dunk.

You can get more basketball pictures at my sports gallery.

karate-do3.jpg

I was the official photographer for the 8th Asian Karate-do Federation Junior & Cadet Championship held in Singapore in August 2006.

The Japanese displayed a grace and beauty in their moves that were rarely surpassed. They were a joy to behold.  To read an article on the event, click here.

When I’m 64

Growing older happens quietly. But I look away from my loss and wait for the morning light.

“The sun rises, and they steal away; they return and lie down in their dens.” Psalms, the Bible.

moon-1.jpg

It must get cold and lonely hanging there in splendid isolation, but that’s just a human perspective. The moon always has the warmth of the sun’s rays shining on her.

“The day is yours, and yours also the night; you established the sun and moon.” Psalms, the Bible.

national-stadium-1.jpg

I will always remember those floodlights. I will always remember the first time I walked into the stadium as a child. The scene bathed in a white glow. The grass, vibrant green. The smell of cigarette smoke mixed with that of curry puffs. The stadium announcer’s voice mixed in with the low rumbling sound of the swearing, sweating throng of 50,000.

And high above the crowd they stood, lonely and ignored. Soon the lights will go out forever.

I’m glad they preserved this building because of her rich history. Our collective memories do not just exist in words or images. We need to touch our memories.
